Urban scene with a modern glass building featuring vibrant yellow screens and a red logo. Nearby, a red traffic light is visible.

A new era of out-of-home (OOH) advertising and digital building design has arrived

in New Zealand, with the country’s first installation of MuxWave transparent SMD

LED film now live at the head office of Westpac Bank on Lambton Quay,

Wellington.

Installed by Luma AudioVisual Creative, the cutting-edge display transforms the building’s

glass façade into a high-definition digital screen — while still allowing clear views

and natural light from inside the building.

From the interior, the technology appears as a subtle, light mesh across the glass.

From the street, however, it delivers a striking, high-brightness digital display that

brings content to life in one of Wellington’s most prominent commercial locations.

MuxWave transparent SMD film represents the latest evolution in digital out-of-

home technology, offering a premium alternative to traditional LED signage. Unlike

conventional screens, the ultra-thin LED film integrates directly onto glass

surfaces without obstructing visibility or compromising architectural design —

making it ideal for corporate headquarters, retail flagships, and high-profile

commercial buildings.

Luma AudioVisual Creative is the only qualified installer and maintainer of MuxWave

technology in New Zealand, and was selected by its international technology

partners to deliver the landmark Westpac installation.

“This technology opens up entirely new possibilities for how businesses use their

building frontage,” said a spokesperson for Luma AudioVisual. “It allows

organisations to communicate dynamically with the public while preserving the

experience for people inside the building — something that hasn’t been possible at

this level before.”

The installation demonstrates how transparent LED technology can be used for

brand storytelling, campaign messaging, and digital placemaking in dense urban

environments, where councils and building owners are increasingly focused on

design integrity and sustainability.

With OOH advertising continuing to evolve rapidly, transparent LED film is

expected to play a growing role in the future of premium digital displays across

New Zealand’s commercial and retail sectors.

Businesses interested in learning more about MuxWave transparent LED film or
